Suarez Painting Inc. is a licensed and insured woman-owned business that provides painting services for interior and exterior spaces for both industrial and residential areas. Our focus as a company is to fill spaces with life through color, with a process we have refined throughout the years.
Suarez Painting, like many others, suffered a major loss in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They lost several scheduled jobs resulting in loss of revenue and work for her employees. Argelia said, “We lost employees and almost lost our storage space, we accumulated debt. My husband has been working alone, double or triple to complete jobs since for a time we did not have enough to pay any of our employees.” Argelia was looking to be more efficient with her finances and get help with the structure and organization of her business.
Argelia enrolled in Renaissance's Secure Futures financial literacy program in 2016. She went on to become an advocate for the Latino community, encouraging people toward financial stability by signing up for Secure Futures program. Argelia completed Renaissance's Start Smart and Business Prep courses in addition to utilizing one-on-one business consulting.Because of 2020's Covid-19 pandemic challenges, Argelia pre-applied for the San Mateo Cares Act grant with support from Renaissance. After being selected to apply, she submitted an application detailing how the grant would be utilized if awarded. Renaissance was pleased to recommend Areglia’s business to the County for approval. With the $25,000 grant, Suarez Painting brought back two employees, covered 2 months of rent, and paid back a portion of accrued debt. Argelia intends to work with Renaissance consultants to help develop human resources and create a manual for employees.
