HR for the New Economy – Session 4: Benefits and Employee Advancement Opportunities

Thursday, January 27, 6-8pm

HR for the New Economy is intended as a four-session series to help you make sense of Human Resources for Small Business. We know that the economy has changed since COVID and we constantly hear that “People don’t want to work anymore.” What can you as a small business do to protect yourself and your employees? How can you recruit better? How can you ensure that your employees can be successful? What are you doing to make your place of work an attractive one?

We address this in four sessions and we encourage you to attend all four.

This is SESSION 4: Benefits and Employee Engagement Opportunities, presented by Alicia Santamaria from Adelante Consulting, and Amanda Anthony.

There’s no doubt that it can be difficult to provide benefits and development opportunities to your employees as a small business owner, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. We’ll start by reviewing the basics of getting health insurance (Covered California) and retirement plans (CalSavers) in place for your employees, as well as a grant program that helps small businesses when their employees take Paid Family Leave.

The majority of the session will be building your skills as a leader. Alicia Santamaria will help you identify your strengths as a leader and understand how to use them to manage employees. If you have had challenges because you feel your Millennial and Gen Z employees have a different way of approaching work than you do, this session can help you understand each other and lead to a better working environment for you both!

There is a new way to register! You can now register using your client profile. By setting up a client profile, you will not have to fill out the same personal information for each workshop you register for, making it faster and easier in the long run! 

a)  If you already have a Client Portal Profile, click the Register button below.

  • In the Client Portal, go to the Calendar tab (top left) and select HR for the New Economy Session 4 (BRC 1/27/22), click enroll, answer the questions, and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

b) If you don’t have a Client Portal profile, create one at this link. Make sure to use the same email address you have used in the past with Renaissance. You may change it later, but this allows our system to recognize you. 

If you already have an intake form on file, you’ll see the Calendar tab in the top left.

If you do not, you will need to fill one out before you can see the Calendar tab. It may also ask you to update your information.  The user interface isn’t perfect, so make sure to scroll up and keep clicking “Continue” or “Sign” in order to complete the forms. If you have any problem during this, please contact Amanda Anthony at amanda@rencenter.org.

Once the Calendar tab is visible, you can register by going to your profile’s calendar tab and selecting HR for the New Economy Session 4 (BRC 1/27/22), hit enroll, answer the questions and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
