HR for the New Economy – Session 3: Onboarding Effectively

Tuesday, January 25, 6-8pm

HR for the New Economy is intended as a four-session series to help you make sense of Human Resources for Small Business. We know that the economy has changed since COVID and we constantly hear that “People don’t want to work anymore.” What can you as a small business do to protect yourself and your employees? How can you recruit better? How can you ensure that your employees can be successful? What are you doing to make your place of work an attractive one?

We address this in four sessions and we encourage you to attend all four.

This is SESSION 3: Onboard Effectively, presented by Ron Visconti and Nancy Nelson of HRProse.

You’re excited! Your new recruiting strategy worked and you found a great employee. Now how do you make sure they get up to speed on your business processes as quickly as possible? Hiring is only the first step. Onboarding – or training and supporting – your new employee can be the difference between a two-month-and-out hire and a long-term employee. What does your employee need to know today, tomorrow and next week? How can you build up challenges so they don’t get bored, but also not overwhelm them straightaway? Nancy Nelson will talk about what onboarding really is and why it is important to creating a successful start for new employees for engagement and retention. She will also share her top 5 tips for creating and improving your onboarding process.


There is a new way to register! You can now register using your client profile. By setting up a client profile, you will not have to fill out the same personal information for each workshop you register for, making it faster and easier in the long run! 

a)  If you already have a Client Portal Profile, click the Register button below.

  • In the Client Portal, go to the Calendar tab (top left) and select HR for the New Economy Session 3 (BRC) on Jan 25, click enroll, answer the questions, and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

b) If you don’t have a Client Portal profile, create one at this link. Make sure to use the same email address you have used in the past with Renaissance. You may change it later, but this allows our system to recognize you. 

If you already have an intake form on file, you’ll see the Calendar tab in the top left.

If you do not, you will need to fill one out before you can see the Calendar tab. It may also ask you to update your information.  The user interface isn’t perfect, so make sure to scroll up and keep clicking “Continue” or “Sign” in order to complete the forms. Once the Calendar tab is visible, you can register by going to your profile’s calendar tab and selecting HR for the New Economy Session 3 (BRC) on Jan 25, hit enroll, answer the questions and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
