HR for the New Economy – Session 2: Recruit and Hire Well

Thursday, January 20, 6-8pm

HR for the New Economy is intended as a four-session series to help you make sense of Human Resources for Small Business. We know that the economy has changed since COVID and we constantly hear that “People don’t want to work anymore.” What can you as a small business do to protect yourself and your employees? How can you recruit better? How can you ensure that your employees can be successful? What are you doing to make your place of work an attractive one?

We address this in four sessions and we encourage you to attend all four.

  • Session 4: Benefits and Employee Advancement Opportunities

This is SESSION 2: Recruit and Hire Well, presented by Ron Visconti and Nancy Nelson of HRProse, as well as Lelan Anders of NOVAWorks.

Before the pandemic, most small businesses recruited via recommendation; if you were a good employer, your employees would bring over their friends and family to work for you. Now, the whole paradigm has changed. To build a winning team, you need to think about what you’re looking for in a more intentional way. Lelan Anders shares an innovative way of approaching hiring that ignores where a person went to school or their past job titles to get to the meat of their skills. Nancy Nelson will build on that to talk about developing a hiring plan and and thinking about and creating your staffing model and alternative resources to fill your staffing needs.

There is a new way to register! You can now register using your client profile. By setting up a client profile, you will not have to fill out the same personal information for each workshop you register for, making it faster and easier in the long run! 

a)  If you already have a Client Portal Profile, click the Register button below.

  • In the Client Portal, go to the Calendar tab (top left) and select HR for the New Economy Session 2 (BRC) on Jan 20, click enroll, answer the questions, and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

b) If you don’t have a Client Portal profile, create one at this link. Make sure to use the same email address you have used in the past with Renaissance. You may change it later, but this allows our system to recognize you. 

If you already have an intake form on file, you’ll see the Calendar tab in the top left.

If you do not, you will need to fill one out before you can see the Calendar tab. It may also ask you to update your information.  The user interface isn’t perfect, so make sure to scroll up and keep clicking “Continue” or “Sign” in order to complete the forms. Once the Calendar tab is visible, you can register by going to your profile’s calendar tab and selecting HR for the New Economy Session 2 (BRC) on Jan 20, hit enroll, answer the questions and submit! You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
